I would marry Shakespeare if he asked me. We would eat Pad Thai, listen to Mozart and play tennis until we lived happily ever after.
Pick me to be the next Good Mood Blogger! I can totally handle the job. First, as a wife and mother I understand the daily drudgeries, demands and dreams-on-hold. (And look how well I alliterate!) I also understand the hopes, triumphs and sighs of accomplishment. Second, as a daughter I understand the sometimes staggering losses in life. Third, for more than a decade I have been a literature teacher, which means I am responsible enough to design and structure entire classes all by myself, plus meet deadlines. Fourth, (see how organized I am with my points!) I’m a writer. That’s what I do. I can do straight forward and technical or I can put a fancy spin on things. Fourth, For the past two years I have actively maintained a humor blog (The Crash Test Dummy Diaries) in which I regularly submit content and where I have been described by my readers as an entertaining sunburst of optimism, humor and spunk, and as being hilariously insightful, outrageously silly, yet deeply compassionate. “She lifts my spirits and always has a different ointment to soothe the wound of that day,” said one reader. “She is my inspiration, my beacon at times,” said another. I know my voice, and if you pick me you can hear it every day.
I can usually maintain my good mood with simple diversions like a cat nap, some yoga stretches or a cup of Oolong tea. Other pleasures, such as sunshine, music, libraries, fresh flowers, salmon, and Erma Bombeck keep me smiling, but ultimately the trick to maintaining a good mood is maintaining good thoughts. Being positive, grateful, hopeful, tolerant and patient with myself and others is how I sustain a healthy, happy approach to life. If that doesn’t works I watch Nacho Libre.
How much time do you spend each day doing something you feel excited about?
