Why are you perfect for this job?
I believe nothing is more important than being in a good mood. Yes, I'm that "selfish." Because when you feel good in your head and your body, everyone around you feels good too, (or least they feel BETTER). Good moods are contagious and a pretty good bug to catch in my humble opinion. Also, a decade back, before I started taking Sam-e and a host of other supplements, (seriously, I've been taking SAM-e every day for 12 years after I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, something I undiagnosed 2 years ago); I didn't feel so great in my head and body. I won't bore you with all my itty bitty life details, but I've learned that being in a good mood is a choice you can make with some help from exercise, nutrition, great friends, therapy, pets, chanting, singing, blowing bubbles, eating a handful of licorice, whatever positive life recipe works for YOU. Oh, and you have to add one major ingredient to your mood "recipe," You HAVE to know you DESERVE to feel good, no matter what messages some people might drum into you. Okay, on to my blogging credentials. I'm a professional and seasoned writer. I blog. I publish print and online articles on natural health, social trends, motherhood and psychology. I'm chatty. "Motor mouth" was my nickname as a kid, but I've learned to edit myself. I'm on all the social media, tweeting and Facebooking and LinkingIn. I know how social media works. I use it professionally AND personally. I was a Market Research and Marketing and Advertising Director years back. I know how to get the word out by word of mouth and viral marketing. I just blasted my entire network regarding the benefits of Vitamin D3. Also, I won't shut up about how to get into a good mood. Okay, I'm not so annoying you'll roll your eyes. I just want people to know that being in a decent mood most of the time is entirely possible. I used to say I was a "realist." My glass wasn't half full OR empty, it just had water in it. NOW I say the glass is as full or empty as I want it to be, and I want mine overflowing. I was a psychology major decades back so I've been studying personal development and human potential for a long, long time now. I'm extremely candid about myself. I had Postpartum depression and fibromyalgia (no more!). Both put me on the road to studying natural mood balancing. It worked. Every part of my life has improved ten-fold. Studying moods is what I DO. I genuinely love to write about natural health and alternatives to traditional medicine. I read one whole book on just one mineral, who does that? I research natural hormone replacement, brain chemistry and natural mood balancing. I love to help friends, family and readers feel their best, to avoid the nasty side effects of medications, as well as the nasty side effects of feeling chronically unhappy. To sum me up for this Good Mood Gig? Writing about natural health and mood balancing is a chronic passion and my chosen profession. It's part of me. Thanks for reading this. I'd appreciate your vote because I want this writing gig, alot :)
How do you maintain your good mood naturally?
Well for me, it's a mix of mind, body, spirit activities. START THE DAY WITH A MINDSET. I try to start my day mentally asking myself how I want feel that day. I find it sets the tone. Sometimes I even write it down. DITCH THE GUILT: When stress gets in my way or I don't get all my to-do's done, I cut myself a break. If I get irritable or nasty with people, in other words, I'm human, I apologize. Next, I figure out what I need to say, do or stop doing to get back on mental track. JUST SAY NO: If I'm overwhelmed by things I need to do I'll politely decline invitations, tell people no, or ask for more help. I'm a mom so I've had to learn to say NO a lot to my child and to others. EXERCISE LIKE IT'S AIR: I gotta have it. I have to keep my body and brain chemicals happy. I jog and take Pilates and muscle tone classes at the Y. It's an instant mood booster (even on vacation). NO DIETING: I eat a lot of healthy and filling mood foods but I let myself eat whatever I want once or twice a week. French fries and pasta are one of my non-guilty pleasures. I prefer not to diet so instead I exercise six days a week and eat a lot of fresh or unprocessed foods. I also eat a variety of foods, including international items which can be really fun. SUPPLEMENTS: I research and write about natural medicine all day long. The advances are exciting and help me keep my family healthy. I tend to focus on three areas to maintain good health: body and brain balancing, boosting the immune system, and lowering inflammation in the body. PEOPLE: Human connections are vital to feeling a sense of well-being. I regularly take alone time and talk to my husband, my family and my friends. Playing with my Pug is a great mood booster. My dog listens, never interrupts and cocks his head as if he cares. We all need to get our "ick and issues" out, but at some point, we need to actively WORK them out. WRITING, writing, writing. Writing is an essential part of who I am. I've been writing my emotions, thoughts and ideas since I was 10. And when I'm 100 I'll still be writing :) I've decided my good mood matters to me, and to everyone around me. Whatever it takes to be in a good mood, that's natural and doesn't harm anyone, I'm all over it. On the Sam-e website Lisa wrote in her article "Lisa's List of 50 Feel Good Things," that it helps to know what a good mood really feels like. I agree Lisa. And once you do know, you'll never want to feel any other way.
