My husband is on 400mg of Sam-e, but he wants to wean off it and try an antidepressant.
400 mg is a relativley low dose, but it might be best if he takes the 400 mg dose every other day for a week prior to discontinuing it. He should then be able to safely start up the new antidepressant. Taking SAM-e concurrently with an antidepressant might increase the risk of condition called serotonin syndrome and is therefore best avoided.
