Does SAM-e thin the blood or otherwise delay healing for someone recovering from surgery?
SAM-e is not known to act as a blood thinner, however, due to it's potential effects on serotonin, could interfere with surgical procedures. SAM-e should be discontinued at least 2 weeks before a surgical procedure. One can probably safely resume SAM-e shortly after a surgical procedure, but this should be discussed with ones surgeon.
