Q: Can severe abdominal cramps, constipation, nausea and loose bowels be a side effect of SAM-e?
SAM-e is typically well tolerated, however nausea, constipation and diarrhea are reported side effects that may occur typically at higher doses. It might be advisable to discontinue SAM-e and see if the symptoms persist. If the symptoms do persist, then this needs to be brought to the attention of a physician.
