I don't like books named things like, "500 Places You Must Visit Before You Die" or "1000 Things to Do Before You Turn 100." There are too many things on those lists. I cannot do them all in time. It feels stressful.

Here's a little crash-course on how to become a lucky person, just in time for St. Patrick's Day!
I just stumbled upon an article describing (in detail and based on psychological studies) how to make yourself into "one of the lucky ones." The article is 6 years old, but I'm thinking the secrets to becoming a human luck factory should be pretty timeless.

Another Quotation Tuesday!
Last night, at about 4 a.m., there was a magnitude 4.4 earthquake here in Los Angeles. If you've never been in an earthquake before, a 4.4 is fairly small. It feels about the same as someone gently shaking your bed to wake you up.

It is easy to work yourself into a bad mood during a commute. Bumper-to-bumper traffic, discourteous drivers, people who are not paying any attention — the list goes on. St. Patrick's Day is coming up on Wednesday, and I've got my green food coloring ready. People have been celebrating St. Patrick's Day by eating green foods and dying non-green things green since the early 1900's, even before food coloring was invented. For a while, people were using dangerous ingredients like copper salts to do the dye jobs instead.

With Mother’s Day just passed, I’ve been thinking a lot about how important my mom is to me and how our whole family has gotten one another through good times and bad. Family can be just the cure for a bad day, because there’s nothing quite like mom’s home cooking for a good mood. Families are all different, and even though not all families get along 100% of the time, there is still comfort in knowing that there is someone who you can turn to unconditionally in times of need.

Looking around at other women who inspire me, I’ve noticed that we carry a common bond: not only do we try to conquer the world through our careers, supporting our families, or serving countless others – but we oftentimes rob ourselves of the “me” time that we need.

If you ever have those times when it seems like the day is going to be tough to face, all it takes is starting your morning off right to make sure you’ll be in a good mood all day. When I notice someone is cranky or in a bad mood, often they use the excuse, “I got up on the wrong side of the bed.” While seemingly a meaningless phrase, I wonder if those people had gotten their morning off to a good start if they would be in a better mood? I notice that if I do things for myself in the morning, it gets me off to a great start and keeps me in a good mood all day.

"Money can't buy happiness" is another one of those phrases that you've probably heard enough times to make it nearly meaningless - especially if you've got extra money in your bank account right now and you're hoping to buy yourself a little happiness with it.

We get a lot of questions and messages here at SAM-e.com, and though we’d love to be able to answer them all with a personal touch, the influx is sometimes pretty high. I’m sorry if I haven’t been able to answer your question directly, but don’t fret, we’re working as much as we can to address the questions you send in with our updated F.A.Q. For now, though, one of the questions we keep hearing is: “Can my teenager take SAM-e? He/she is moody all the time!”
