5 Ways I Stay Sane…

Since I spend a lot of my time online, I come across a lot of blogs that are written by moms.  Even though I’m not one yet, I always find it fascinating to read their stories, tips, and anecdotes from their day-to-day life.

RelaxAfter reading these blogs for a while, I have built these women up as superheroes in my mind.  They write humorously about the messes they are cleaning up, the situations they are in, and how they laugh about the everyday stresses they encounter (they also have awesome problem-solving-super-powers).

So I thought that it would be fun to start a meme called, “5 Ways I Stay Sane”, in order to uncover the real, applicable tips these women and others use to handle the craziness of their lives.  I will start off with 5 ways I stay sane, and hope that it will continue as long as people are tagged.  Here goes:

1.    Going for Walks Outside:  Sometimes the only way I can get away from laundry, dishes, and other household stresses is by taking a walk outside.  Even if it is for 10 minutes, taking a walk helps me calm down, contemplate, and become more relaxed.

2.    Waking up a Little Early:  Even though waking up is hard for me, the times when I make myself up a little earlier are the days I feel more in control of my day.  There is something about the peacefulness of the morning that gets me ready to face a busy day.

3.    Laughing:  When everything hits the fan, sometimes I just have to laugh at how crazy things are, and joke about them with the people in my life.  It’s a good way to help myself remember to not take life so seriously.

4.    Making Manageable To-Do Lists:  Sometimes things seem overwhelming because they aren’t organized, or I don’t have a plan.  When this is the case, I try to make to-do lists that I can actually accomplish in a day.  Sometimes I’ll start with 3 things I can really do, and work from there.

5.    Writing:  For me, writing in a journal is a great way to get feelings out in a healthy way.  Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed, I simply write about it and it puts everything into a better perspective.

These are my top 5!  At this point, I’m going to tag 5 women bloggers who I absolutely admire to continue this meme (and hope they will respond).  They are:

At the very least, I hope you will visit their blogs – because just reading their posts will put you in a better mood. :)  If you aren’t on this list, but want to join the meme anyway, feel free!  Be sure to tag others and let me know by linking back here.

I enjoy reading The Happy Housewife and Rocks in My Dryer, as well. You're right... they do put me in a better mood (and share lots of great tips!) I'll have to check out the others, as well as take a few more walks outside. Thanks for the great ideas.

I am a big fan of to-do lists as well - it's so satisfying to cross things off them!

Will try to get to this shortly!
