7 Positive Thinkers Who Have Changed History
Throughout history, there have been some notorious individuals known for their evil deeds and terrible decisions. Such infamous cretins as Pol Pot and Hitler have burned their wrong doings in our minds, and we must learn from their injustice on the world. However, there have been far more individuals who are considered amazing and positive role models in history, too. These optimists are good examples of why establishing a good mood naturally can lead to greatness.
Abraham Lincoln –
I walk slowly, but I never walk backward.
Honest Abe is possibly one of the most well known examples of what one person can do to change history for the good of mankind. The steps that Lincoln took from his humble beginnings allowed him to go down in history as the man who freed the slaves and ended the Civil War. His tenacity and wisdom affected all of those around him, and his ideals stay strong even today.
Mahatma Gandhi –
You must be the change you want to see in the world.
A staunch believer in non-violence, Gandhi was best known for his political and spiritual leadership in India. He believed in truth and independence, and influenced civil rights for Indians under oppression. His beliefs in truth and love spread across the world, and his legacy has stood the test of time.
Martin Luther King, Jr. –
An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
Dr. King’s influence is exemplary of the way positive thinking can bring about change in society. More than just an advocate for civil rights in America, Martin Luther King, Jr. was the voice of people whose message could no longer go unheard. Though he suffered the ultimate consequence for raising his voice, Dr. King’s dream remains one of the most powerful messages in history.
Barack Obama –
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
The current U.S. President is known for his eloquence and oration abilities. Obama’s presidency also has instilled a sense of hope for change in America, and his ability to get Americans to come together is doing great things for the national mood.
Oprah Winfrey –
The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.
Oprah has made her career from bringing positivity and a good outlook on life into the mainstream. She serves as a role model to women everywhere, and has overcome terrible trauma and horrible circumstances to become one of the most powerful and respected women in the world.
Princess Diana –
I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that.
Though her life was tragically cut short, Princess Di made great strides for AIDS awareness and children’s rights. Her unwavering positivity and sparkling good mood made her one of the most influential women of her time.
Lance Armstrong –
If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.
Lance Armstrong is a world-renowned cyclist and cancer survivor. His “Live Strong” campaign and the Lance Armstrong Foundation has helped individuals and communities everywhere to raise awareness and money for cancer victims and research.
These positive and thoughtful individuals are only a few of the people who have turned possible disaster into triumph and made the world a better place as a result. Who are some of the people in history who have made a difference on you with their positive thinking and good outlooks on life?
