8 Influential Women Who Rock
Oprah, Tina, Michelle and Meryl - what do all these women have in common? Well, they all ROCK for starters. Here's a list of women who lead the charge and set a great standard for the rest of us when it comes to being a leader.

- Oprah Winfrey – Hopefully I don’t have to tell you who this is. Oprah has accomplished much in her lifetime for women everywhere, including empowering women through organizations such as the Angel Network and The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.
- Jessica Jackley – Founder of the micro-lending organization Kiva.org, Jackley is a pioneer for women in business everywhere. Named one of Fast Company’s Most Influential Women in Technology, this young revolutionary and her organization have loaned over $100 million to organizations in need since 2005.
- Tina Fey – When it comes to funny women, there aren’t many who are more hilarious than this year’s recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. She’s used her celebrity to draw attention to causes such as Autism Speaks.
- Ellen Degeneres – Speaking of funny women, Ellen’s sense of humor is something women everywhere can learn a lot from. She’s done a lot more than just make us laugh, though, as she’s responsible for aiding in animal related charities as well as the Susan G. Komen Foundation, among others.
- Ursula M. Burns – The CEO of Xerox, Ursula is the first African-American female to head an S&P 100 Company. Recently, she received an honorary doctorate from NYU for her global vision in education and business.
- Meryl Streep – Academy Award Winning Actress Meryl Streep is best known for her roles as powerful women and most notably her recent role as Julia Child in Julie & Julia. She has championed for equality, arts, education and health for children and women everywhere through such charities as The Grace Children’s Foundation.
- Michelle Obama – Mother, wife, lawyer, and of course, First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama has always been a voice for those in need, and has become a powerful force in bringing together communities.
- Mavis Staples – This soulful crooner not only has a powerful voice when it comes to music, but she is a powerful voice when it comes to civil rights. Her songs have given a voice to the oppressed since the 1950s, and she continues to create compelling and inspirational songs today. Her latest release is a collaboration with musician Jeff Tweedy entitled You are Not Alone.
