A Comet Summer

Is it just me, or is it really exciting that there's a comet that's going to be visible most of this summer? Astronomers had it expected it to be too faint to see with the naked eye, but it turns out that it will be much brighter than expected, and we'll be able to see it starting the middle of this month. (Comets don't streak through the sky like meteorites - McNaught will look like a large, fuzzy-looking greenish star.)

I remember the year that the Hale-Bopp comet was in the sky. Everything that happened, happened with the fuzzy glow of the Hale-Bopp comet as a backdrop. I went on my first date with it glowing above us like a chaperone.

This summer's comet, McNaught (For some reason I keep wanting to call it Comet McNaughty, that's not good...) will be visible only in the wee hours of the morning for most of us (3:30 am-ish) - there will probably only be a few times I'll see it. But it will be there every night while I'm sleeping.

There's something about knowing the comet won't be in the sky for anyone else in any other summer that makes me inspired to be a bit of a force of nature myself this summer. Productive. Decisive. On fire!

Maybe because it feels like this summer will have a mental bookmark on it, anyway, so I should live up to the notablity of summer 2010. It doesn't completely make sense.

But I think you should take motivation where you can get it. And this summer I'm getting mine from comet McNaughty. Who's with me!!??

the photo looks unreal... i feel dizzy. :)
there is a whole lot of serious action goin' on like the perseid showers, triple moon conjunction and grand celestial crosses.
may be much too nice to be noticed with the naked eye.. yet at any rate at the current pace that they're movin' and groovin' it looks like runnin' for the hills won't be too shabby an idea -particularly if yer lookin' to find a keeper for the books.

so be a pal, a sport or a chum and take the hike, leap or what have you -as they say "walk the walk" wherever it leads because who knows what will happen next when you dare hitch a ride through the heavens and dance under the stars.

I sort of already did something daring this summer. I bet $1000 on one hand of blackjack, and I won. I plan on buying a playstation3 with my winnings, the rest will go to bills and stuff. Even though I did it last week on my vacation, can it count as my daring summer 2010 action inspired by Comet McNaughty?

Hello,Brigitte.
I will make an attemto to get photographs of it. With Narragansett bay to my east, I can set up on the shore, and have an unobstructed view.
Years back, I got great pictures of Hale Bopp.
