A Hawaii Photo Journal

I snapped some photos while I was in Hawaii recently, and they put me in such a great mood that I thought I'd share them with you.

This was right outside our hotel. I saw dozens of statues like this, but the way this one looked in front of the mountains in the distance really made me smile.
Another view from right outside the hotel. The palm trees seemed to be almost unreal against the mountains in the horizon.
This is the Napali Coast on the west side of the island of Kauai. So many colors!
I thought I had seen sunsets before, but there’s nothing quite like watching the sun dip into the ocean after a long day on a boat.
It’s hard to tell, but these cliffs were sheer rock and vines for about 150 feet.
I spotted a wild boar on one of my hikes! He didn’t notice me, and it’s a good thing, too, from the look of his tusks …
One of Kauai’s many waterfalls. This one was off limits for swimming or diving.
This was a real treat. We saw about 6 humpback whales on our catamaran cruise. There was a whole family, including some calves.
I found this shell embedded into a piece of volcanic rock. I wanted to keep it as a souvenir, but opted to just take a photo instead.
This is the kind of place you could never want to leave.
The view from the road to the botanical gardens. (Yes, this is real.)
There was something so serene about this little dam and waterfall. I totally lost time for a while as I sat and stared. It was extremely relaxing.
One of the many beautiful and colorful flora of the islands. This particular flower was about the size of an apple.
A momma hen and her chicks. There were chickens everywhere in Kauai!

I’ve got a few more pictures, but these were definitely some of my favorites. Let me know what you think and I’ll post more if you want. Hopefully they might inspire you to get out and take photos of the world around you. You don’t have to go to Hawaii to appreciate your environment.

I was going to give you 1 star because you didn't invite me to come along! I keep promising myself that I will get there someday.

Thanks for the great pics, it is making my workday a bit more enjoyable.

Oh, what memories these pics bring back. Ater two weeks in Hawaii several months ago, I am certainly ready to go back. It has got to be the most "laid back" place on earth.
