A Springtime Poem by Suzanne McMinn

In honor of National Poetry Month, Good Mood Gig first runner up Suzanne McMinn shared this springtime-inspired poem with us.

Spring is here! And it's like New Year's all over again. Another chance for resolutions, hopes, dreams, and flowers. I'm ready! (Are you?) And I can't wait. Why are all these branches still so bare?

I walk out on my farm, looking for my Spring. It's here somewhere! The calendar tells me so.

Do you know where I can find my Spring, little sheep?

No, I don't have a cookie for you. Now, don't chase me, little sheep.

Do you know where I can find my Spring, little goat?

No, I don't have a cookie for you. Stop chasing me, little goat!

Do you know where I can find my Spring, little donkey?

I don't have a cookie for you either, donkey!
I'll find my Spring all by myself. Now don't chase me, donkey! You're pushing me into the--
--trees. Oh, wait. Oh, there!

Little bud upon the tree
Peeking forth so quietly
Little bud upon the tree
Will you, oh, please marry me?

Suzanne McMinn writes every day in her blog, Chickens in the Road, at http://suzannemcminn.com.

shirley wilson Monday, April 05, 2010

This is just one of the many reasons I visit Suzanne's blog every day. She has a gift for lifting spirits.Even when she was snowed in under a foot of snow, not once, but three times, with no electricity and no contact with the outside world, she still gave her friends (don't call us readers. She would be offended)a cheerful, upbeat word or two with pictures to go along with it.We love her.

Joycee Monday, April 05, 2010

I so look forward to Suzanne's daily blog and a peek into her life on her West Virigina farm. It's like you are there, you can smell the fresh air, partake in the daily chores...yet without any of the hard work! Loved the poem and as always the pictures alone would be enough!

Suzanne - Your blog is the first thing I look at in the morning with my coffee. My mother was at my home yesterday for Easter. She's 88 and doesn't know about computers, but I showed her the blog at Christmas. First thing she asked was "What's happening on the 'chicken lady' site?"
