A Weekend Staycation
If you're lucky, you're looking forward to an extra day off work this week, and a long weekend for Memorial Day. When I was a kid, a three-day weekend from school was always exciting, even though it usually didn't mean any big exciting plans. Just being able to plan my own time was exciting.
Even if you can't afford to get out of town this weekend, that doesn't mean your only options for enjoying the extra day off are sleeping the day away (which is sometimes the very best way to celebrate, don't get me wrong) or doing extra housework you need to catch up on. No! You just need to learn how to do a real staycation.
In case you didn't know, staycations are vacations that you don't leave home for. I actually think the word "staycation" is a bit cutesty and obnoxious but it really is the best way to describe it, so I won't dwell on it.
Anyway, in order to make your staycation something to look forward to, it takes some planning just like any other vacation. You'll need a specific start date and time that you'll stick to so that everyday monotony doesn't blend into your vacation time. Make sure your chores and errands are all finished before the start of the staycation just as if you were going to leave town. Plan a mix of activities and relaxation.
Like what? Well, this could be your chance to check out a museum or local tourist attraction that you've never been to before in your own town. It doesn't have to be all things you've never done before. It could mean spending an entire day doing all of your favorite things around town and then watching a marathon of your favorite movies.
Have fun planning your own time! : )

My plan is to stay in bed until my bladder can't take it any longer than lay on my couch and watch all the movies I've recorded on my DVR but haven't gone around to watching yet.

Hello, Brigitte.
Rhode Island started an ad campaign in the 70's to increase local tourism. They called it 'The Biggest Little State in The Union, Rhode Island". Even back then, they were trying to have citizens tour their home stae and discover what is interesting ;ocally.
I always like going somewhere local which I have read about, or seen on the local news. There is a lot to discover in my own back yard.
