Fall into Fun: Autumn Activities
Fall is officially here, and that means the weather is changing, and so can your mood. If the heat of summer got to you, and the crunch of the economy has got you flustered, then it is more important now than ever to enjoy your life. To keep a balanced mood, it is important to vary the activities in your life to include both work AND fun. Fall is just the time to do some outside exploring, as it isn’t too cold, nor is it too hot (at least in some parts of the country!). I put together some resources of things you can do before it gets too cold and the hustle and bustle of the winter holidays is upon us.

- Pumpkin Picking – One of the things I remember from my childhood in autumn is visiting a pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect one for carving. Most of the time, they were too small or too wide to get a proper spooky face onto. It takes time and a keen eye to pick out the right gourd, but if you sift through, you never know what you might find. For a guide to the pumpkin patches in your area, check out Pumpkin Patches and More.
- Spooky Haunting – A chill in the air during October is sometimes an ominous and foreboding sensation, which might send a shiver up your spine. To capitalize on that freaky feeling, take a group to a local haunted house, where goblins and ghosts will jump out from the night just to scare you silly. As freaky as they can be, haunted houses have a surefire way of making you feel transported into another world. Entertainment like this can be just the thing to act as a mood enhancer for scaring away the humdrums. Check out Haunt World for haunted houses in your area.
- Roughing It – Being outside and in touch with nature is a great way to establish a good mood, because once you’re out in the great outdoors, it can really put things into perspective. Camping and hiking are a great way to have a getaway from every day life, and sometimes that is all you need to reinvigorate your good mood. You can very your experience and bring along as many necessities as you like, but it can be fun to take away some of the conveniences of modern living so you can tune in to what the natural world has to offer. How do you like to spend the fall season? Getting the family together or spending time with friends outdoors is a wonderful way to find your smile even with the nip of colder weather on its way. But every season has its perks, so embrace each change in weather as a chance to change your outlook for the better.

I love these ideas! Fall is my favorite time of year, though it's a different experience in California, where I currently live, than I had growing up in Boston.
I always loved going apple picking, selecting pumpkins to carve with my siblings, and making assorted pies.
Another thing that I enjoy doing in the fall is crocheting scarves and afghans for holiday gifts. They're warm and colorful--and perfect projects for shoppers on a budget!

What's in this stuff? Why can't I find the ingredients anywhere on the site? ...or did I just miss it? Don't you think people would want to know?
