Feazy Threezy and Tackle It Tuesday - How to Get Things Done for a Great Outlook

I don't necessarily like to dole out "advice," per se, but one tidbit I might offer is this: STOP PROCRASTINATING! I know it is tough to think about, and you might be saying, "I know, I know," but if you do yourself this one favor, you will really start to see a difference in your lifestyle. It is easy to get overwhelmed, but if you want to find your good mood, one great way to start is by taking care of the things you need to do so that you can do the things you WANT to do. Here are a couple of methods I've found that are great ways to stop procrastinating and getting yourself in gear for a better outlook.

Feazy Threezy

I have a little ritual I like to call “Feazy Threezy.” I know it sounds silly, but it translates to “feasible three,” which basically means I give myself three concrete, achievable tasks for each day. Whether I need to get dry cleaning done, or send out a package, or even prepare for out of town guests, I always start a to-do list with three manageable tasks that I absolutely have to get done that day.

It is often easier said than done, but you can also start off small and work your way up. I’m not talking about “brush teeth” small, but more along the lines of “file away tax paperwork.” The longer you procrastinate in doing something, the harder it will be to get done in the long run. But if you stop procrastinating, you’ll find you can get a real mood boost from accomplishing those little things that need to get done.

Tackle It Tuesday

Since I think Feazy Threezy has worked out for me pretty well, I want to extend the idea a little farther and start up “Tackle It Tuesday.” Just give yourself some things that you know you can finish in one day. A lot of people work during the day, and can’t really take time off to do the things that they need to do, necessarily. But if you set aside just Tuesday to get things done in your off hours, you’ll feel worlds better the rest of the week.

On the blog Chocolate Fingerprints, blogger Andrea decides to take a Tuesday to fix and clean her leaky sink. The results are amazing, and she finally got around to doing something she had been meaning to do for quite some time. Other bloggers, like the Geeky Housewife, take care of everything from laundry to computer files on her Tackle it Tuesdays. Take a cue from one of these bloggers and spend some time on Tuesday to really get down to business and get some stuff done.
