Good Mood Activity – Berry Picking
Now that the weather is nice and things are in bloom, it also means that there are opportunities to have fun outdoors that you might not have considered. Berry picking, for example, could be a fun family outing.
Some tips when looking for the best berries:
- Choose berries that are full and without blemishes.
- Since many berries, such as strawberries, will not continue to ripen after being picked, be sure to pick berries that are ripe.
- Smaller berries often have the most juice and flavor, so don’t be afraid to get the ones that aren’t necessarily the biggest!
- Discard any moldy or shriveled berries that might make their way into your bucket. You can freeze berries in an airtight bag for later use.
- There are different picking techniques for different berries, so be sure to research the proper way to pick berries, whether you’re after blueberries or raspberries or even huckleberries, there’s a best way to get the most berry for your buck.
It is the perfect time to go outside and spend time in nature and with family to pick berries. You can find a location near you by doing a little online research or even asking your neighbors and or the farmers at your local farmer’s market.
