Good Mood News - November
Time for another edition of the Good Mood News! Here are a few stories that will be sure to put a smile on your face.
The Ultimate Green Project – Des Moines Area Community College is recycling a California wind turbine in one of the greenest endeavors you’re likely to see. It is currently being remanufactured in South Dakota after which it will be almost as powerful and efficient as a brand new turbine. Not only will it generate power for the school, it will also provide hands-on experience for students in the renewable energy programs.
Circular Rainbow Appears Over Johannesburg – A beautiful and extremely rare event occurred in the South African sky earlier this month. Also known as a “sun halo” or “sundog,” this rainbow is created by sunlight reflecting off of ice crystals in the atmosphere. Imagine what the Double Rainbow Guy’s reaction would be if he saw this!
Arizona Twins Give Birth at the Same Time – When you hear how some twins do everything together, you probably imagine them dressing alike and going to the same places. Twin sisters in Arizona took that to an entirely new level. Sara Cardon and Melissa Worthern got pregnant around the same time and fittingly gave birth on the same day to a boy and girl. This family might have set a record for the easiest birthdays to remember.
Chilean Miner Plans to Run NYC Marathon – When marathon officials invited Edison Peña to attend the New York City Marathon, they thought he might like to ride in the lead car or greet runners at the finish line. They never expected he’d want to participate. Peña, a tri-athlete, was known for jogging through the mine while he and his fellow workers were trapped underground. He has never participated in a race longer than 10 miles but considering how strong his spirit is, it seems like there’s nothing he can’t do.
