How to Change Your Life
“You cannot change your destiny overnight,
but you can change your direction overnight.”
~Jim Rohn
In a culture of instant everything, we want instant change. We want events to happen which can take us away from the problems of everyday life.
Regardless of the hardship and challenges we face --- whether we’re recovering from a relationship breakup, being laid off from work, or struggling to find more meaning from our jobs --- dwelling in the problem will not help us find a solution.

Some think, “If only I could just win the lottery, then all my financial debt will go away.” Or, “If only my ex-boyfriend comes back, then I could be happy.” In thinking this way, we are relying our happiness and wellbeing on an external force we have no control over. In doing so, we give our power away.
Instead, when you find yourself dwelling in your problems, or repeating the same story to others, make a mental note: “Will thinking about and telling others about my problems lead to solutions? Will it help me?” The answer will likely be no, unless the person is a counselor or someone who can directly help you overcome these problems.
Ask yourself where you would like to be. How would you like to feel? Then start shifting your attention in that direction. Knowing where we want to go is crucial in making the changes necessary to eventually get there. Not getting clarity on where we want to go means we will most likely never get there.
