How Your Family Can Help Your Mood
With Mother’s Day just passed, I’ve been thinking a lot about how important my mom is to me and how our whole family has gotten one another through good times and bad. Family can be just the cure for a bad day, because there’s nothing quite like mom’s home cooking for a good mood. Families are all different, and even though not all families get along 100% of the time, there is still comfort in knowing that there is someone who you can turn to unconditionally in times of need.
Staying in touch with family can sometimes be difficult, though, so there are various ways you can reach out to them or at the very least, stay connected. Here are a few methods to make sure you can stay connected to your loved ones.
• Visit – This one seems like a no brainer, but at the same time, it also feels like it is easier to make an excuse to put off visiting a relative or old friend that you once considered family. Take some time out of your month to call up your grandma or cousin and go pay them a visit. You can meet in a mutual location, say for coffee or lunch, and get a chance to catch up without feeling like you are invading someone’s house.
• Write – You can get a great sense of satisfaction by just telling your loved ones how amazing you think they are by writing a thoughtful email or letter. It can do a lot to really cheer someone up if you send them a memory you have of them, or a photo if you have one. Likewise, if you have a lot of family you want to contact and update at one time, you can send a family newsletter.
• Make Dinner – When was the last time you actually made dinner and had family over for a nice meal? When you cook with love and affection for the people you love, you’ll discover that not only does the food taste better, but you’ll enjoy cooking so much more. There’s not much better for getting in a good mood than putting on some tunes and stirring up some sauce in preparation for a family get together.
• Social Networking – There are plenty of ways to keep in touch with your loved ones in real life, but there are even more available online. With such great social networks as Facebook and Twitter that you can use for free. If you want another great way to connect with family and share pictures and other info, check out Windows Live.
• Blogs & Websites – Making your own website can be a fun and exciting way to keep in touch with friends and family. Not only that, but it can prove to be a fun and mood boosting way to feel productive. You can use a service like Blogger, Tumblr or Wordpress to get started, or you can make a truly customized experience with myfamily.com.
Staying in touch with your family is one easy way to get in a great mood naturally. How do you connect with your family members?
