It's Quotation Tuesday!

Sometimes someone will phrase something in just the perfect way so that it motivates me to work harder, be a better person, believe in myself. It's really amazing how powerful words can be! So I've decided that every Tuesday I'm going to share a favorite quote here on the Good Mood Blog. It might be a recent quote from current events that struck me as being inspirational, or an old-but-good quote from literature or someone famous. And I'm always on the hunt for new quotes to pin to my bulletin board for motivation, so please share your favorites in the comment section!

Today, the quote that's stuck in my head is from Conan O'Brien's last night hosting "The Tonight Show". 

Last week, as the overwhelming, heartbreaking statistics and images from Haiti's disaster came pouring in, the second biggest news story was often the Jay Leno vs. Conan O'Brien controversy. Obviously, by comparison, that story seemed incredibly shallow and meaningless. By comparison, all of our everyday "problems" are nothing compared to the horror that the people of Haiti are still facing each day.  It's been a gut-wrenching dose of perspective for all of us, and I hope you remember to help, and continue to help, if you can.

But for each of us, our everyday troubles also continue to exist. Hopefully, it's our attitudes that have changed.


I thought Conan's goodbye speech was really gracious and sweet, and well-dosed with perpective. 

So this week's quote is:

When I was a freshman in college (at Nebraska, woo!) I decided to write a quote a day on the dry erase board on my dorm room door. I didn't meet a lot of people from my floor that year (because I started college painfully shy) but when I did happen to talk to someone and they found out which room I lived in, they always mentioned the quotes. It was nice to know they got read and appreciated.

@Osmyn I really like that quote. As a kid I always believed I was bad at math. The people who would "try" to help would become frustrated with me because I wouldn't "get it" and their frustration reinforced my belief. When I made the decision to return to university I wanted to improve my high school math marks, so I went to night school. Luckily this time I had a wonderful teacher, who understood we all learn differently. Long story short I ended up with a 92% in advanced math, thanks again for that quote.

I wanted to share one of my favorite quotes. It's from the movie, No Country for Old Men.

I love this quote. It speaks to the negative energy that we all deal with from time to time, like vengeance, iodination, venomous contempt, and other negative unhealthy energies that TAKE more from us than we would ever get in return.

I also love movies! I've seen No Country for Old Men like 45 times on my Laptop.
