Marking Milestones
We all have moments in our lives that we hold special. Sometimes it helps to have a little reminder of those great times with a keepsake or a celebration. Whether you choose to go high tech or low tech, there are simple and fun ways you can make sure your special memories don’t pass you by.

Scrapbooking – Sure, it seems like a no-brainer, but scrapbooking is an endeavor that often ends up getting overlooked for more technological ways of holding onto memories. Instead of keeping all your memories in a digital fashion, like digital photos on Facebook, do some old-fashioned cutting-and-pasting and get creative with a scrapbook that tells a story of who you really are. You might just surprise yourself as the years go by. For some fun ideas on how to get started, check out the Scrapbook Sisters Blog.
“Me” Box – I’ve been keeping a small stationary box in a drawer in my closet for several years now. I open it every once in a while to put something new in there. Sometimes it’s a keychain or a photo of someone, or even something as simple as a piece of string from a favorite shirt. The “Me” box, or Memory Box , as it is also known, acts like a time capsule that you can revisit anytime you like. You can adorn the box any way you like, so have fun and get creative!
Give Something Away – I know this post is about preserving memories, but I’m going to go out on a limb here and tell you to give something away. If you are interested in marking a milestone in your life, chances are likely that others were involved in the making of that milestone. To mark the occasion, give one of those people an item that you feel signifies your experience. Giving a loved one a gift is always a gratifying experience for me, and it helps me to appreciate the person and the event even more. Plus, giving gifts is a great way to give yourself a mood boost.
What other ways do you like to preserve memories?
