Monthly “Me” Time: Finding “My Space”
Looking around at other women who inspire me, I’ve noticed that we carry a common bond: not only do we try to conquer the world through our careers, supporting our families, or serving countless others – but we oftentimes rob ourselves of the “me” time that we need.
This has inspired me to start a monthly meme called, “Monthly Me Time”, to help other women (including myself!) think more of themselves and their personal wellness (both emotionally and physically). I will post monthly about my latest quests to take some time out for myself each month, and I encourage this discussion to continue in the comments and links below. (I also made these cool badges if you want to grab one for a blog post, or for the side of your site)
So I thought I’d kick this meme off by sharing with you my latest attempt for “Me Time”, and that is finding “My Space” (I hope my corny pun makes you laugh as well).
I’m sure that those of you reading this who sent kids off to college this year, or have moved yourself can empathize with me in my latest move to a new home. Not only was the move itself exhausting, but for the first weeks, all I wanted was to make the boxes disappear. And now that the boxes are finally gone, I’m making a “Me Time” decision.
This month, I pledged to find a place for myself in our new home—a nook, a cranny, or a section of desk space that I can call “mine”. This is important so that whenever I need “Me Time”, I have a place to call my own. I ended up with the desk in the spare bedroom. My husband works on the kitchen table. I don’t ask for much, but I definitely felt the need for a place of my own to read or write—a place that is free from clutter, and overall a place that helps me relax.
What are you going to do for yourself this month? Feel free to share your comments, or link to your post in the area below.

Excellent article! It's really important to find sometime for yourself. It recharges the batteries. I think and work better.

I always need me time. I have a 2 year old boy and 8 month girl, and I stopped doing the things I did for myself when I was childless and single. I've made it my vow to paint my nails once a week, wax unwanted hair, and work out at least 3 times per week. I think that's a start. Someone asked me when was the last time I really enjoyed myself, and I couldn't think that far back.(It was our wedding anniversary...way back in February!) As women, we tend to think about husband and/or kids first, and ourselves last. Sometimes you just need to set aside time to do something that really makes you happy.
