SAM-e Complete® Monthly Contest – What is Your Good Day at Work?

Work is tough sometimes. The weeks can seem long sometimes, but there are those days that really make me feel productive and inspired. Personally, I love Wednesdays. They are the time of the week where I really hit my stride, and I know I’ve got time before the end of the week to catch up if I need to. I also know that Monday and Tuesday are behind me.

For me, a good day at work means getting things done on time, having good conversations with my coworkers, and a general sense of accomplishment. So this month, I want to know what makes a “good day” at work for you?

Let us know what puts you in a great mood at work. Be as creative as you like. You can even share a story of your favorite day at work. A good day at work is, first of all, when you have a job to go to. After that, it is when you enjoy what you are doing and able to meet your deadlines. I also like to finish what I start, so if I finish something the day I start it I feel like I accomplished something.

My good day at work is when I can juggle my hectic schedule, juggle my boss' hectic schedule, and still find room to juggle my kids' hectic schedules. This usually involves shuffling everybody off to school on time, getting to work and prioritizing my duties, getting my work done, consulting with my coworkers, meeting with the bosses, and keeping in contact with my kids' teachers to make sure that they don't have any pending field trips/tutoring/homework/projects that have been overlooked (I have both of my sons' teachers' cell phone numbers and we all call each other). Sometimes I leave work for lunch to meet with my kids at school or to touch base with their teachers (have to keep the A's and B's coming). When I can do all of this and still have time for a good cup of coffee, a good lunch, and leave on work on time, it's my idea of a good day at work! But, foremost, my day always starts of with my daily dosage of Sam-E at 6 am. The workday just wouldn't be the same without it!

I'm a stay-at-home mom, so a good day at work for me is a day where my family is happy and my daily work gets done.

Having time and energy to do an extra chore - one of those cleaning, cooking or organizing projects that I've been putting off due to lack of time or lack of energy - that puts me in an awesome mood! Organizing my hundreds of printed-out recipes, cleaning baseboards, scrubbing walls, all the things normal people think are crazy, but which are part of the stay-at-home mom world!

And the absolute best part of my day is when my whirlwind of a toddler stops long enough to give sticky little boy kisses or even a 5 minute long snuggle during a favorite cartoon. :) That's the best!

I HAVE TAKEN SAM-e FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS. AFTER 28 YEARS OF TRAINING HORSES AND WORKING IN THE VETERINARY WORLD, I MADE A CAREER CHANGE BY GOING BACK TO SCHOOL FOR CLINICAL RESEARCH. I NOW HAVE AN AWESOME NEW JOB, CONDUCTING RESEARCH AT A HOSPITAL FOR VETERANS. THIS LIFE CHANGING MOVE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT THE HELP OF SAM-e AS IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER ATTEMPTED & SUCEEDED.

A great day at work.....
I have been out of work from the viewpoint of many around me. A back injury sidelined me.

One day I meditated on a question, "How do I heal?" I got an answer which threw me for a curve.......

The answer was "Help others".

I protested "How?? My back is broken!!"

I surrendered.........

I have no work days. I have no off days either. Every moment is an opportunity to help someone. Everyday presents itself with work and everyday presents itself with play!

My work and play became one! I began to write and look for others trapped in negative thought patterns. What puts me in a great mood at work?

Helping put another in a great mood at work!

I lost my job when the company recently went bankrupt, but I still can remember lots of good days. How! Because I had perfect attendance for 7 years. Something good had to be happening in order for me not to miss a day in 7 years. One thing I would do to make it fun is on Thursday's (pay day) I would always wear a green colored shirt. Money is the color green and that has always put a smile on this face and always guarntees a good day. I hope soon I can bring out all those green shirt and wear them on a new job with a new smile.

I am long retired now - but during my working years a good day at work started very early as I woke up always looking forward to just getting to work. As a teacher I was able to bring a much satisfaction and enjoyment to their time in my classroom. I respected my students and they in turn respected me. Their successes were my successes. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - and when one of them went on to pursue a career in my field, I could ask for no greater compliment. Many happy memories were brought to life when, on the occasion of allumni gatherings, old friendships were renewed and brought to life.

A good day at work is when you get that grateful feeling of self-worth for a job well done and finish your day with a smile.

Even though I'm unemployed and would love to be working, I still try to get that feeling from my everyday accomplishments. But having a job would be helpful because I miss having a good day at work.

I would like to participate in the "Good Day At Work" contest. I read the Official Rules. It tells me to go to this certain web page: www.sam-e.com/talk. So I went there. There is nothing on that page that has a link or tells me how to join the blog -- that is, if the Good Mood blog is the forum for submitting entries for the contest. My point is, YOU MAKE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING CLEAR! You know what would put me in a good mood? Finding a website that has clear, logical content!!!!

Lisa Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Rick- My apologies for the confusion. To enter, you just leave a comment with your answer. I will follow-up with you via email with full details.

What puts me in a great mood at work? Well, having something to look forward to AFTER work sure helps, as does my job that day being something that's fun yet challenging.

A good day at work for me is the day the child that always bangs his head, doesn't. Or the child that can't control his hyper-activity, biting and pinching, is under control. And the child that hits anyone in his path because someone is too loud, hasn't hit anyone all day. That is a good day!

Wow! I've started following a regular SAM-E schedule and things are really changing. I've regained my attitude with graditude, replaced overwhelmed with "CAN'T STOP ME NOW", and most important - let my 2 teenage boys out of their cacoon. Love this stuff. Thanks so much.

A good day at work for me...It consists of smiles, hugs, laughs, jokes. Continued by eating the most "yummiest" lunch with my coworker. It also is a good day when we spend our free time doodling on a notepad back and forth, when we giggle over a spilled drink and make fun of our "boss" when he comes to work with his hair messy. I LOVE my job, my boss and my FAVORITE coworker...it just happens to be..my family, even tho I am a stay at home Mom, I take my "Sammies" in the mornings and I don't sweat the small stuff....now I have to get back to another great day at work:)Nap time is almost over...

I had a beautiful baby girl four months ago. This is my third week back to work. I was nervous about my first day back, but at the same time I was looking forward to it. After three months of 24/7 mommy and baby time, I was ready for some adult interaction. I also needed to feel like I was doing something productive with myself.

I think this resulted in Mondays being my favorite day of the week. By Friday afternoon I'm ready for a weekend full of cuddling with my baby. Come Sunday night, I'm ready to get back to work, interact with my co-workers, and be productive after being lazy all weekend.

I put in long weird hours so being at the top of my game for my selling ability is key.

I'm hoping Sam-e can pep it up for me!

A good day is any day in which I remember to consider myself lucky just to be alive, and in which I have opportunities to make meaningful contributions.

Mandy Thursday, February 25, 2010

The one thing that always helps me have a good day at work is a smile. I happen to be known for mine and it is often said that is the first thing most people notice about me. Even on my worst day at work I make sure every associate, every customer, every person walking by while i am outside on my break or lunch gets a smile. Even on the days when i DON'T want to smile I do it anyway. As cheesy as it may sound, when you smile at the world the world smiles back and when everyone is walking around with a smile its hard to not to have a good day :)

For me a good day at work is actually a good night...I have been a night shift nurse for over 12 years. A good night is remaining positive in spite of extreme busy-ness at times, being able to spend the time I want with patients, helping them to learn how to take care of their new babies, and having an attitude of teamwork among the staff. As part of the management team, it is my job to set an example of good teamwork and a positive attitude.

A good day at work for me is my hobby. I was let go from my job almost a year now and I was sad for a pretty long time. I had a very reputable job, it became a huge part of my life, it was my life. Without it I wondered what I was going to do with all my "free time" waiting for job interviews and openings. I went to a fabric store one sad day and remembered the way my "blankie" use to make my sadness and worries go away as a kid. I decided to start making blankets for little kids. I started giving them to friends for their children and babies, then I started donating them to hospitals in the NICU. They take up my time when I am feeling sad and I can be creative AND make a difference. So a good day at work to me are the days that I get to hand out the blankies, just to see those little kids faces. To know that I brought a little sunshine into their lives helps me make it through my sad days. I haven't lost hope yet that I will find a job, but making smiles brings more joy and is more fulfilling than what I was feeling before:)

Living in a big city is very hectic and a good day at work starts before I get to work. My day begins with getting up early, doing my stretches, meditating, showering, feeding the dog and cat, giving them pets, walking the dog, eating a healthy breakfast, taking my vitamins and SAME-e. Now, I can face a crowded bus or subway with patience and humor. I have walked six blocks navigating transportation between home and work. At my job, I have a cup of tea and conversation with my colleagues as I prepare for my classes. Each day teaching in an inner city high school presents new and exciting challenges. I have to be the teacher, friend, parent, clergy, therapist, confidant and police officer for 150 students.
If I can help a student solve a problem, see progress in a student, make a student laugh, stop an argument before it escalates into a fight, convince a student to come to school on a regular basis, assist a parent with their child, help a troubled student stay in school, convince a student to turn in a weapon, hear a thank you from a student, support a student who feels lost, find help for a student; accomplishing just one of these things makes it a good day at work.
