Simple Habits
“In 1977, Dr. Michael Fordyce, a psychologist and author of ‘The Psychology of Happiness’ published the ground breaking results of his experiment showing that students asked to study the habits of happy people actually increased their happiness and life satisfaction by just learning about the subject.”

One of the things I like to do daily, is to find quotes that serve as simple reminders to the truth we already know inside, and to reflect on how it can be applied to my own life. It takes less than 5 minutes.

I share these quotes on Facebook , and on my quote site here . This site started mainly just to collect awesome and inspiring quotes I find from various sources in one place. Prior to the site, I used to write them in random places, and then misplace the paper. I also started writing them in my journal notebook, which is a good, one place solution to keeping them together.
“Where do you find so many great quotes?” is a common question I get asked.
And my answer is simple: once I tuned my mind towards finding the most inspiring and motivational quotes, I started seeing them everywhere.
So much that I don’t go actively seeking good quotes now, I just notice them as I go about my day, and writing down the best ones I encounter. And every morning I’ll flip through my physical journal or online notes to find ones that feel right for that day, reflect for a moment and then share them with friends.
It’s a simple habit that has increased my own level of happiness and wellbeing.
Our habits shape much of our experiences. And so, if you want to live with more joy, start to create habits that make you feel good, inspired and appreciative of life. Do them daily.
The other activity I find extremely rewarding and that helps me focus on the things I want is the habit of writing every day. It’s not for everyone, but it has certainly helped me to redirect my focus daily in the direction I want.
What are simple activities that make you feel good? What keeps you feeling motivated and inspired? Make a commitment with yourself to take one small step toward doing those things every day. What small step can you take right now?
