Stay In and Work Out

I'm glad I can't see your face over the next few seconds as you realize that you are reading a blog post suggesting an easy way to fit more exercise into your schedule. Here we go. We all feel better when we exercise. Yes. We know. And we are going to get around to it.

Going to a gym or workout class is great. In fact I'm about to start a group samba dance class that will surely be as awkward and mortifying as it will be healthy. Good times.

But classes and gym memberships can be expensive and time consuming to commute to.  By comparison, there are things about working out at home that are pretty unbeatable. Namely, the fact that you're often already there. And now that there are websites that stream free full-length workout videos for free, you don't have to deal with the monotony of doing the same exercise DVD workout over and over again.

For me personally, there are a couple other reasons I love working out at home with online exercise videos:

There are many sites that offer free workout videos online, but exercisetv.tv and workoutz.com are a good place to start!

You're going to have, so much fun at Samba! Don't worry everyone else will feel awkward as well. I wanted to learn Salsa a few years back, so I took a class and it was fun. In the beginning we were all clumsy, just remember to practice whenever you can. Get some Samba songs and practice when you're brushing your teeth, grocery shopping (which is great cause the cart can substitute as a partner), vacuuming etc... oh, wear comfortable shoes ;)

Btw, had no idea about the online workout videos, cool & thanks.

You should make a video version of this post.

A person doing exercise can be a good visual.

Hello,Brigitte.
Also, doing things the hard way,can make you work out. In my job,I can go up and down stairs as part of my routine, and can even go up and down during my lunch break, for a quick cardio boost.

Samba class! I've always wanted to lean that! Sounds like so much fun!

I recently started taking ballet classes again, so I know what you mean about feeling awkward and mortified (it's been 10yrs since I wore a pointe shoe!) But after the initial shock of the first day, its been really fun! The adult dance classes are more laid back, and you forget that you're getting a workout!

I always start out motivated and talk about how this is going to be the 'thing' I stick to and I'm finally going to lose that stubbon 10 pounds...but then I get bored or lazy and stop. I need something that is procrastination proof :)

That must be a brand new exercise ball. I can see the packing wrinkles. They also work well as a computer/desk chair, they give you a small workout just by sitting on them while you work.

I couldn't agree more! A good workout really does put you in a good put! (Or... keeps you in one).

I LOVE WORKING OUT. I've been working out a Gold's Gym since July 2008. I go every single day... and I have FIERCE workouts.

I tried everything Gold's Gym offers. Spin classes, Yoga, Boot Camp (indoors), Boot Camp (outdoors, 5AM), out door group trail runs, etc.

Working out is like having an extended family of sorts.

Variety is the KEY (in my opinion).

I honestly do not know what I would do with myself if I couldn't workout everyday.

(I'm so glad Brigitte won this contest things :}:} )..... Brigitte is AWESOME

Check out www.phusia.com. It's just starting out, but more classes will be added and it's free. Plus you download the music and the music is great!
