What Bees Taught Me about Being in a Good Mood

I know what you are thinking: bees? But yes, bees are such unique creatures that there’s a lot we can learn from them when it comes to staying in a good mood. Here are some of the things I learned about maintaining a good mood from bees.

If we all work together, things are much easier for everyone – Bees have an understanding of their place in a hive. They know that everyone contributes to the construction and maintenance of their home. Families and other groups can work this way, too. That means it is up to everyone to pitch in and do his or her part in order to make life easier for everyone.

Hard work pays offHoney is the result of many hours of relentless labor for our little buzzing friends. They make it to serve as sustenance for their queen and her children, but humans can benefit from this natural by-product, too. The thing to keep in mind is that something so simple and good takes a lot of time and effort, but the result will be nothing short of amazing. In short, working hard and keeping a smile on your face will have a huge payoff when it comes to feeling great about the work you’ve done.

The anticipation is worse than the sting – I didn’t get stung by a bee until I was in my 20s. For most of my childhood and adolescence, I was terrified of getting stung. I thought that the pain would be unbearable. I dreaded the sight of bees and wanted to be anywhere but where they were. But when I finally got stung on accident, I didn’t see what all of the buzz (pun intended) was about. It barely hurt at all. I’m not saying you should run out and get stung by bees, but I have to say that there’s no point in living in fear of what might happen. Let the chips fall where they may and take things with a grain of salt. You’ll feel much better for not letting yourself get worked up over nothing.

Bees are fascinating creatures. Though they are often associated with vicious stings or just seen as being overall pests, these hardworking little critters can teach us a lot about how we can stay positive and work together to thrive.
