What My Cat Taught Me About Being in a Good Mood
Whether you have a cat, a dog or a ferret, you know how important your furry friend can be. Here are some of the things that I learned about being in a good mood from my cat.
Get Over It – Cats don’t harbor grudges. Well, mine doesn’t at least. If he’s doing something he shouldn’t be doing, say jumping up on the counter, and I tell him to get down or have to pick him up and put him back on the floor, he doesn’t mope around feeling bad for himself. He goes and does something else, not thinking about how he would have done things differently. If things don’t go your way, and there’s nothing you can do about it, then don’t dwell.

Naps are Essential – Sure, all cats seem to do is sleep. Heck, they even have a nap NAMED after them. So I think it’s important to take a cue from that mentality and give yourself the rest and relaxation you need to feel your best.
Keep Clean – Cats are notoriously clean creatures. They are picky about keeping their eating and waste areas tidy, and with good reason. Keeping yourself and your environment clean and healthy are important elements to maintaining a good mood.
A Little Responsibility Goes a Long Way – Cats are a relatively “low maintenance” pet, mostly because they only require a certain level of basic needs, and the responsibility it takes to keep one can reflect heavily on your own life. I notice that providing the things my cat needs are enough for him to return my attention by being a terrific companion and constant source of smiles.
You’re Never Too Old to Play – Break out a laser pointer if you want to see some hilarious cat antics. Though he’s pushing 10 years, my cat still loves to spontaneously break out in a running pounce down the hallway. Who knows what he’s after, but no matter what it is, he plays with as much gusto as any kitten I’ve seen. I think a spontaneous burst of playing is the best good mood booster you’ll find.
Cats are truly a lot of fun and can be a great way to put a smile on your face if you have one. If you don’t believe me, here are 6 adorable cat videos that might change your mind.
